Welcome to I-Hacked.com
 --------------------------------------------------
Electronics are everywhere, and technology drives pretty much everything we do in today's world. We show you how to take advantage of these electronics to make them faster, give them added features, or to do things they were never intended to do.

We are not a "cracking" site, we are hackers. Our inquisitive nature leads us to find ways of making technology work for us. We do not support unauthorized access into systems, breaking into email systems, or anything of that nature. Please do not email me asking me how to do this type of stuff.

Please enjoy your stay, check out the articles, and submit some of your own. As a community we can share our tips/tricks/and hacks with each other. The I-Hacked.com's "Most Wanted" are articles that we are currently looking for articles to be written about.

Articles are open to the public, however downloads and the forums are restricted to members only. If you are interested in becoming a member, please click here.

Taming the Staples Easy Button
Written by alcohen@impulsedesign.com

Ever since I saw the easy button, I thought to myself... Man that would be great to have that thing say something other than "That was easy". Just think about the laughs that could be had by changing it to say something like "I am not wearing any pants" and putting it in your meeting room. Luckily, after replacing some internal electronics, it is now very easy to update it to say ANYTHING I want! :)

Homemade Throwies: Using crap you already have
Written by hevnsnt
Monday, 17 July 2006

Surely by now you have heard about "Throwies". It seems that everywhere I turn around I read about them in Make, Digg, Instructables, or any of the other DIY websites out there. (So why not add another? =) Actually this is going to be a little different. Instead of ordering parts to make "perfect" throwies, we are going to do it the I-hacked way... That's right we are going to make throwies out of crap we already have laying around.

Homemade Power Squid
Written by Dan Delcollo
Friday, 14 July 2006

Before you waste too much time here on my homemade Power Squid, I have to point out that the real "Power Squid" is a commercially available product.  These are instructions on how to build your own knock off version.  When I decided to build my own I was looking at advertisements that suggesting a retail price of $29.99 for the original non-surge protected version and between $50 and $80 for the surge protected ones.  At those prices I was convinced that I could build my own cheaper, better version easily from parts available at Home Depot.  It turns out that while you can build your own, making on that is "better" is subjective, and making one "cheaper" is actually quite difficult.  Then I found out that the ads I was looking at were grossly overpriced.  If you shop around, the non-surge protected version can be found for as little as $10, and the entry level surge protected one I found at my local Walmart for $19.99.  Therefore making your own Power Squid becomes an excercise in the pride of making something yourself.  If this still interests you, please read on, if not, I'll meet you at the store.

DealSpy.org
Written by hevnsnt
Thursday, 06 July 2006
My current side project http://dealspy.org has been posted to DIGG. So I guess it is time I talk about it. Also, I need your help. If you have a Digg account, please DIGG This Story. If you don't have a Digg account, please create one and then digg it. :)

You may have read about DealSpy on the Edge, you may have also noticed a DealSpy banner here and there -- its all leading up to one thing...  My newest site http://dealspy.org is ready for "release".

Here is the vision:
Being a "techy" I have always been drawn to the "Hot Deal" sites.  One thing I have found to be common with these sites is that they are usually forum based, and you have to dig through forum post after forum post to find the HOTTEST deal.  After awhile you find that you are spending most of your time hunting.. It can turn into a chore.  That is why I created Dealspy.org.

What is Dealspy About?
Dealspy is a "Social" deal site; It works like this: A user submits a deal that they think is hot. If enough people vote for the deal, it will make it to the front page. That way the front page is always updated with the hottest deals available on the internet. It puts the power back into the hands of the visitors, because they decide what makes it to the front page, not some editor. Dealspy also makes great use of tagging and categories to make it easy to find a deal on whatever you are looking for! Please take a second and check it out. Submit a deal or two, vote on ones you think are hot!

PSP 2.50/2.60 to 1.50 Firmware Downgrader Guide
Written by CodedChaos
Sunday, 02 July 2006
Recently we reported the the breaking news that Kernel mode in 2.5 and 2.6 had been unlocked by hitchhikr of “hitchhikr SoftWorks” and demo scene group Neural via The Edge. This was a incredible accomplishment that was previously thought impossible. Fanjita and many other members of the PSP homebrew community have come together and been testing the functionality of the proposed exploit.

Using the tools and methods that have been released, we have compiled a "Downgrader Guide" for those of you with a PSP with Firmware of 2.5 or 2.6 who would like to downgrade to 1.50.

Materials need:
  • 2.50/2.60 PSP
-NOTE: IT CANNOT BE A TA-082 PSP, TA-082 refers to the motherboard, here's an easy way to check.
  • Access to a 1.50 PSP or the files available here.
  • Power Cable
  • MemStick greater than 32MB in size
  • Grand Theft Auto: LCS
-MAKE SURE IT ISN'T THE UPDATED ONE WITH THE 2.60 UMD FIRMWARE UPDATE, IT SHOULD HAVE 2.00 ONLY
  • Fanjita's GTA exploit eloader installed (See readme inside file)
  • Balls
  • About 5 minutes

How to make an M80
Written by www.unitednuclear.com
Sunday, 26 September 2004
With summer on its way, it is time to start preparing for celebrating our independance... Yes I am talking about making your own M-80s! Warning, this is for information use only, don't actually follow these instructions.  They are completely illegal to own, build, and for the love of god shoot off.

Building the M-80 is a very simple to follow process.  In fact the hardest part of the whole deal is obtaining the materials needed.  Before you even get started with your build you will need to make flash powder which you can learn how to do here.

After you have that done, you can continue building your "Celebration Sticks" =)

Hacking BetaBrite LED Signs (Part II)
Written by hevnsnt
Tuesday, 06 June 2006
In part one of the "Hacking BetaBrite LED Signs" we exposed a gaping hole of the BetaBrite signs, using a common remote to change the text as we saw fit. In part two we will take a much more hardware hacking approach and construct a cable that enables us to communicate with these signs via our computer. From there what our signs display is pretty much endless. At the end of the following article you will be able to have a betabrite sign that can display RSS feeds like I-Hacked's Or Edge's!

We will continue our discussion using the BetaBrite 1036 series LED signs. I chose these displays because they are the most common model, and very easy to come by. I must note that the cable we are going to construct will probably work on MOST BetaBrite signs, and possibly other vendors as well. To quote the last article "Once you start looking for them, you will be surprised how many places have them.. They are EVERYWHERE. Problem is they always have a boring message on them, advertising Specials, News, etc..  I would seriously prefer they say "I-Hacked.com" =)" Except, this time I want them to show people what I-hacked is all about!
