To All,
I have some information for you that may help you to save some money, recently I heard about a company called LIGHTYEAR ALLIANCE, they’re a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) company that specializes in offering residential as well as commercial VOIP service. I know your saying what does that mean to me...well if you’re a customer with any local phone carrier be it Bellsouth etc. that means you’re probably paying to much for local phone service, in my home, roughly I pay $54.00 a month for my local phone service with Bellsouth, with VOIP I’ll pay almost half of that and have unlimited LOCAL calling all for $29.99 a month and my long distance is on 3.9 cents per minute. I know this sounds far fetched but it’s true, and this is over the INTERNET using a HIGH SPEED Internet Connection.
Currently my mother has just gotten a taste of what VOIP is. She uses an application I told her about named SKYPE to make PC to PC calls over the internet to talk to me and it does not cost her or me one dime, the only draw back is that it is PC to PC, not PC to phone or phone to phone, but the voice quality is excellent, and there is no time limit on how long you can talk.
With the VOIP service its phone to phone and your can make LOCAL calls for a flat rate of $29.99/month. Long distance calls are 3.9 cents. When you order the service you will only need a High Speed Broadband Connection. Cable DSL through COMCAST, CHARTER, ADELPHIA, VERIZON, EARTHLINK, MINDSPRING, and ROADRUNNER to name a few. An even more incredible facet of this technology is for example: say you’re going on vacation or just to visit a friend and you want individuals to still have access to you at your home number, well the VOIP box that comes with the VOIP service you can take with you, and at any hotel or residence your staying at simply plug it in to the existing High Speed Broadband connection and your home phone is with you, its that simple, no more missing home phone calls no more roaming cell phone charges, etc. Also I get all the same calling features that Bellsouth offers for FREE, Caller ID, Caller Blocking, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Talking Voicemail, Enhanced Voicemail, Call Return, Three-way Calling, NO Surcharges, No FCC fees etc.
In the upcoming years...as soon as the next 3 to 5 years High Speed Broadband will not be a want...it will become a necessity as all the old analog lines in place will be replaced by this technology, due to the fact that its cost effective, economical, and very easy to set up, it takes less than five minutes, and your saving up to 45% on your LOCAL and LONG DISTANCE phone service. Being that I am in the I.T. profession I first and foremost believe in this technology not because of what I do but because it’s a fact of life. Five (5) years ago if someone had told me TIVO would replace VCR’s I would have told them they are crazy, well its happening, also if someone had told me that every kid under age 9 and up would have a cell phone in a few years as high priced as they we’re when they first came out, I would have said your even crazier, also if someone had told me that DSL would replace dialup due to the fact that DSL cost more I thought to myself that’s even more absurd, well all you need do is look around, technology is taking over, weather you me or anyone else wants it to or not. The service is an excellent service and the voice quality is excellent.
With this service I have completely eliminated my local home phone service via Bellsouth...which they sucked anyway.
