A new idea for a website - 2006/08/22 00:55 Here is my idea for a website. I work at a computer store and have access to hundreds of CD codes in some text files on my laptop. I was looking for codes for windows xp pro online and it took me over three hours to find! I was thinking, maybe I could start a website with almost no ads with codes that work. However, I have no experience in web hosting or website design, and was wondering if I could get some advice on the topic. Should I just put it on a googlepages account, or do I need to do something more elaborate. Thanks.

Re:A new idea for a website - 2006/08/22 22:45 Personally, I would keep that kind of info within a small community. If you're willing to risk termination from your job, go ahead.. but I'd stay on the safe side man.

I can host a site once I'm done pulling teeth (transfering hosts)

If you do post things like that, they'll be behind a password protected area, or they won't be online.

Also, you're responsible for any crap that occurs as a result of it.

Re:A new idea for a website - 2006/08/23 11:17 While it may be a cool idea, you probably don't want to advertise it too much. It's more than a little illegal If I were you I'd keep everything, even the homepage etc, behind a password and then only tell people you trust about it. Don't want to go to jail over some serials

Now, to do with the site: would you also host WORKING cracks? They are nice too (the ones that exist), or so I've heard And keygens? You could get people who are 'members' of the site to send in working cracks/keygens that they have found, to make a community library.

Re:A new idea for a website - 2006/08/23 21:01 sounds like a good idea, and definitely talk to coded. but yeah a password is a good idea at the least.

Re:A new idea for a website - 2006/08/24 02:28 Yeah, I was planning on putting it behind some sort of passwords, but again, I have no experience in website design. In terms of losing my job, I'm not worried about it. Without going into too many specifics, the keys I have access to are from another department.
