Re:A new idea for a website - 2006/08/24 01:37
Also, the idea of a community library is something that very much appeals to me. I have some cracks, but mostly just large amounts of codes. Everything from photoshop to windows xp home/pro, 2000 server edition, flash, acrobat, the basics. My idea is to take my codes and these other codes I have access to and place them somewhere where a SMALL community would be able to get access to them. In order to limit access, a new password would be put on every 10 days or something like that, just so that everyone who emails each other about it get locked out soon.
I am also in contact with someone who says they can make cracks. If they can or not has not been proven yet, but the idea is very interesting to me. I was looking through those websites that everyone gets their codes from, and was just wondering about how they can exist. Doing a little research shows that they are based in off-shore servers (duh).
Then I started looking at the legality of posting these sorts of things online, and found a shocker. If I own the software, I own the software as it exists, which limits my right to modifiy it. However, I own the actually box and paper without question. It is clearly established in electric commerce law. If the code is written on that box and paper and I wish to publish it, then it is my right. If I bought the software second-hand for 10% of its retail cost is not mentioned as long as I can prove that the chain of ownership is clear.
All that being said, I still want to place it behind a password, but I think this is something that could really help the ihacked community. Imagine being able to play around with software that could help you with whatever you want to do without having to worry about spending 4 hours wandering around russian websites loading your computer up with spyware. I want a simple little private website, no ads or anything stupid like that. Just a list of html files with some sort of voting program to show if the code works or not so I can update it.
I am looking for feedback and ideas, so anything you can give me would be great. Thanks guys.
