Re:Playing the Defcon Launch Party! :D - 2007/07/03 21:08 oooh - there's just one part - that one interlude after the remix of that prodigy track. I dropped the tempo to do some multiple layerings of some hacked beats w/ Deltron3030's "Virus"

It's not much different to a "breakdown" in effect - got the crowd screaming last time, so I guess it worked

But I mean, yeah, for the most part the tempo's always kept up and consistent - but the crowd always appreciates little interludes and cool breakdowns - it makes things more interesting! Too many can ruin the flow of the set of course - it's all about balance + keeping things interesting!

good on you, i was an aspiring DJ for some time, but it wasnt right for me.
i do more producer work at the moment, but i barely do that anymore.

Re:Playing the Defcon Launch Party! :D - 2007/07/15 03:15 Here is kind of a psychological reason for having slow parts in the music. In hypnosis there is a term called fractionization which is where you put someone in trance, pull them out, and put them back in. Doing this over and over can make the person go into an even deeper trance. Since music, especially this genre of music, puts a person in a sort of light trance, than having the breaks can create some of the effects of fractionization pulling the person in and out of trance.

So basically, my friend, you are hacking the human mind. lol

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way a hypnotherapist or an expert in any way on this subject. I'm just throwing this information out because I found it interesting.

EDIT: If you don't want to register just to hear his music, i made an account and submitted it to bugmenot.com. The username and pass are both "jojomojo".
