Re:Argh... - 2008/07/10 08:05 very nice on the kernel script... and I will give the mixer thing a try.

I still am very surprised the you people actually have to nuke your windows box once a year... I have had mine for 6 years... and I have had to wipe it... 1 time.

would anyone be interested in me writing a services/tweak "guide" to windows... what can and can't be disabled? (note: on the laptop, I don't even run anti-virus)

btw. I have also been experimenting with a computer at work... I installed "returnil". It essentially tracks all changes made to the hard drive... and reverts them before shutdown. It is absolutely perfect if you have little ones that are hard on your computer (they CANNOT screw it up!)

I think they may also have used the suggestion I made them... to actually save changes to memory... so they are wiped on reboot (instead of hard drive cache)... if so... I am gonna be calling them up for my free pro key!

Re:Argh... - 2008/07/10 08:11 i'd love to see a guide, and i believe deep freeze does that too, but i don't think with memory. i believe it uses a hard drive cache

Re:Argh... - 2008/07/11 08:31 gregg... I looked at deepfreeze... and returnil and various others... none of them actually store it to "ram"... they just say "memory" as in hard drive cache. So returnil has finally decided to rewrite it... and add the option in... the sales manager will be sending me a copy of the alpha in the next 2 weeks or so...
