Re:Can Anybody Find A Way to Rip These? - 2008/03/19 20:13 Well, my server that has several hundred GB free is on my home internet connection, which is business class comcast. Neat thing is, I get way more than I should... I get 15-20mbps down and 2-3mbps up all day, plus there's no traffic shaping so torrents have no issues.

I'd be glad to help distribute the episodes, just get them to me

Re:Can Anybody Find A Way to Rip These? - 2008/03/19 22:44 I'll have to remember that!

Do you want me to ftp the torrent downloaded files up when they're done? It could take a couple days, and I'd have to throttle during week days...

As for the episodes on G4's servers, here's the scoop:

They have full episodes from 1998-2000 encoded (at best) for 56k modems. I'm finding and downloading as I can, but I really need a fusker program so that I don't have to manually create the url's to try...it's taking forever. The timecodes in the URL's work like this: /SHOWNAMEHERE/MMDDYYYY/filename

The filenames are further confusing, and I haven't figured them out yet.

That said, many url's can be had from the internet archive's copy of the video pages that g4 removed.

Here's what I have so far (see file). Just don't slam the server and get us blocked out or get the files deleted!

Re:Can Anybody Find A Way to Rip These? - 2008/03/20 06:52 well, I can seed any torrents that you create, so if you make one, just send me it and I'll start downloading then seeding.

Well, are you wanting me to pull them from the sources listed on http://www.mattparnell.com/stuff/links.txt or are you downloading them from there yourself?

Re:Can Anybody Find A Way to Rip These? - 2008/03/21 08:20 I am getting them all. There's a trick to it. There's actually two. I can then get them all to you in a lump at some point. Torrent probably's a better idea for distribution. People can pick particular files if they use Azureus.

For the links I posted, the timecodes and show code numbers are screwing with me and I can't get a batch downloader/fusker program to work to find them automatically as of yet. Help? These files exist for the entire line up...Internet Tongiht, Call for Help, TechTV news, Silicon Spin, Fresh Gear, TSS, etc... Gotta find and get em all!

And, I have found another way to get more vids that are from after 2000 (there is only a year or two of full eps up there). They are encoded at 126, and I found that the old G4tv pages in the internet archive still have links to the videos, but they've changed. After looking at the new link scheme on the live G4 site and using platypus to make a greasemonkey script to rewrite those links, I have used DownThemAll to start the process of downloading 100 pages (10 per page) of clips from the post 2000 episodes of TSS. Some videos are gone (404 errors), other pages weren't in the archive, so those videos are lost too...Whatever the case, there are hundreds!
