Make your Razer Diamondback brighter! - 2008/03/30 00:11 So, it was raining today.. and I was bored (the rain had nothing to do with my boredom XD)

So, I decided I would crack open my mouse and see if I could do anything to it, that's when I noticed the + and - holes on the board... just begging to get some LEDs in them

So here we go, here is how to brighten up that diamondback with not soldering a bit

==Things you need==
Knife or flathead screwdriver
Phillips head screwdriver
LEDs (from 1 to 3)
Razer Diamondback Mouse
Electric tape

Step 1
Flip mouse over and use your knife (or screwdriver) to peel away the bottom besticker.

Step 2
Remove screw that was under the sticker.

Step 3
That was the only screw on the casing, so now you take the mouse and hold it scroll-wheel and buttons away from you, and squeeze the end closest to you then try to pry apart the separating pieces.

Step 4
Take the top part of the casing and pull it toward the end where the cable goes into the mouse.

Now that you have it open, it's time to make some observations.

Notice the location of the holes in the circuit board.

Probably also a good idea to cut the wire on your LEDs

Step 5
Now, plug your mouse into a USB port, it will look something like this.

Now that the stock LEDs are on, we can see when ours work. So go ahead and install yours.

At this point, you should try and bend your LED wires so that they hug the board, then secure them down with electric tape.

Step 6
Take the top piece of the case, you are going to reattach the pieces the same way you took them apart, take the front of the top and put it on the front of the bottom, then reattach the case piece.

Now put your screw back in and your sticker back on.

And you are done! Enjoy your brightened diamondback.

Here's some before and afters of mine.

Re:Make your Razer Diamondback brighter! - 2008/03/30 00:18 Sweet action; I'm about to try it on my Copperhead by Razor, I'll get back to ya~ Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to
build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying
to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
