IF I got a SATA with the right chipset, can I flash the drive without knowing the key? Or do I not have to mess with that?

Re:RRoD Fix - 2008/05/19 16:16 Here's something interesting. A friend of mine bought a small lot of these off ebay (about 10 or so) that were all just deemed "broken." Some had DVD drive errors. He didn't know about the key thing so he just switched out the drive with another drive from another unit... and it works. I'm very confused at this point. Why is the key necessary?
