Re:Wifi Predator - 2009/02/13 05:29 At first I had my settings the same as listed, but then I turned my Xmit power to somewhere around 70. I really can't afford to fry the thing. It seems to work relatively good that way so far using the stock antenna. I've noticed that mine even set to the 70 tends to heat it up quite a bit. I would definitely recommend turning it down. I also messed with a few of the other settings to better tune it to my application. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of pulling over for 5 minutes to wait for a strong signal.

I like your suggestion for the new antenna. I would probably mount it to the roof of my car. I'm not sure if that much surface area is going to be alright for my application. Typically we drive 90mph into head winds of 60mph or more. I'm thinking the yagi might be better suited for me, but the gain is definitely a lot higher for the dish.

Have you been able to do any tests to see how far you can pick up a signal with it?

If I can get roughly 3 miles out of the antenna or more, I'm good.
