Re:nes to usb - 2006/11/03 07:39
well, I will say it is possible, but the nes is a different ball game entirely... the xbox controller is a natively usb, where as nes... well... with the original NES controller you have a couple of possibilities (non premade) 1. you can mod the contoller, and hook it up for the "game port specification"... havent investigated, but it is most likely possible 2. you could take a usb controller, and interface the nes controller to it(easiest/least work) 3. if you are an electrical engineering major(such as myself), or just very good with electronics, you could build an interface to convert between the nes controller and usb... but this would involve writing drivers, and also alot of un needed headache.
so me personally, since i'm lazy, i would buy the female port from an nes, use an ohm meter to find the pinout to all the buttons/directions, and splice the female port(properly wired up) into a usb controller to the buttons you want "used".
but, unless you wanna be able to say you did it... just get a smartjoy...
