Suggestions/ideas for a hack - 2005/02/03 02:38 Have any of you ever gotten Crest whitestrips? I did. The case they come in is nice looking, especially with the stickers off and the divider down the middle on the inside cut out. The bottom is also false, and can be popped out if more space is needed. Anyway, I think it would be a great case for a portable hard drive, (a laptop drive is the only thing small enough to fit in there) or better yet, a DIY mp3 player. There are kits with the circuit board and stuff for an mp3 player, you just get those, and a hard drive, and you are good. They come with an LCD and all too.

Any other suggestions as to what could be done with one of these is appriciated.

Re:Suggestions/ideas for a hack - 2005/02/03 18:11 search slashdot -- there's a good article on there from an MIT-site that was posted recently about a DIY mp3 player in an altoids box. It was actually pretty involved! good luck

Re:Suggestions/ideas for a hack - 2005/02/04 01:45 Well as long as we are posting ideas for new hacks, I was trying to figure out how to get past the download caps on certain sites. The caps limit how many kbs there can be per download for one person. It makes the downloads just go slower so you are inclined to buy an account. Anyone have any ideas on how to take the caps off?

Like torrent sites, or what kind of sites are you talking about? Post some examples!

Re:Suggestions/ideas for a hack - 2005/02/04 03:05 http://www.fileplanet.com was mainly the site I was refering too, but I am sure there are many other sites with similar "caps" on thier downloads.

Also, fileplanet makes you wait in line before you can start a download if you aren't a subscriber. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around waiting in line?
