IR Strobe Headlamp & Micro Light for MIRT? - 2006/09/01 06:25 I found an infrared Headlamp strobe light and a Micro IR strobe keychain light for sale online at:

Could these possibly be used as a MIRT or be modified for use as one? I could not locate the specs on the headlamp, but here are the specs for the micro light:

I contacted them direcly and learned that the maximum strobe rate is 120 cycles per minute. I ordered 2 of the micro lights that were on clearance for $9.95 each to mess around with for starters (hopefully I can change the frequency). I doubt if the micro keychain is bright enough to work, but you never know. The experiment will let me know if the strobe rate can be changed and hopefully the larger headlamp uses the same circuitry. If I can get the micro light to change frequencies, I will order the headlamp version (more expensive) and hack it.
It would be interesting if the headlamp or the keychain worked "off the shelf" with a little hacking?! Thanks for the inspiration hevnsnt!

Re:IR Strobe Headlamp & Micro Light for MIRT? - 2006/09/05 23:47 I took a look at it, and yeah it would probably work, but the driver probably wouldnt be powerful enough. It looks like the Flashlight only uses six lamps..
