Movie Beam - 2006/09/27 17:05 There is a new service called Movie Beam.. Here is the info, does it sound easy to hack?

Basically, PBS will be streaming (on air) all the new releases and your receiver is given permission for you to view the movies it has already stored!

MovieBeam sells for $99.99 and all sales are processed using MovieBeam’s retailer Web site. Customers must have a valid Visa, MasterCard, or American Express card in order to purchase the system. The MovieBeam system is delivered free of charge via FedEx and arrives within 2-4 business days after ordering.

Movies are delivered digitally using a dot-cast signal that is carried by a conventional, terrestrial PBS broadcast. The indoor antenna receives the signal, and the MovieBeam device decodes it and acquires the permission to list it as a “new arrival” using digital rights management. As new movies arrive, they take the place of older movies. A “Leaving Soon” section shows users which movies are about to be replaced.

Customers are billed for the movies they decide to watch, and are not billed until they begin watching them. A standard movie costs $1.99, while a new release costs $3.99. High-definition movie rates are $2.99 for standard movies and $4.99 for new releases. Once the customer begins watching the movie, they have 24 hours to watch it as many times as they want. Customers are billed for movies using the same credit card they used to buy the system.

MovieBeam must be connected to a phone jack or VoIP system to ensure proper billing.

Re:Movie Beam - 2006/09/28 06:00 that's really interesting
here's my theory, and i'd like someone to prove me wrong:
if it exists, it can be modded hacked cracked or otherwise.

Re:Movie Beam - 2006/10/01 16:38 indeed chaos, run this thing under a network bridge in windows if possible.

log the outgoing packets, and spoof it to say you never started watching the movie xD

winsock hook and minor programming knowledge would need to happen after this.
