Dirty 'disk' XBOX - 2007/01/19 20:51 Greetings again my friends,...

My XBOX is being yet again 'a pain my AZZ .'
I recived a Brand "NEW" Need 4 Speed Most Wanted,
for my old azz (43rd) Birthday.

And my Xbox is telling 'dirty' disk, It is clean!!!.
So how do I :

( A: ) Clean the 'dirty disk' within the dvd-rom, (I remember they use to have those CD's with the minny fiber to clean the lens,...if that really worked at all.)

( B: ) Create an external connection for a DVD-ROM

( C: ) Where can I buy a factory and or another XBOX dvd-rom?
I have checked eBay for other XBOX's seems like all the parts have bad dvd-rom's

Help!!!.

Re:Dirty 'disk' XBOX - 2007/01/20 00:24 Best thing to do, is open the xbox, and check the DVD drive's connection to the Motherboard. If that doesn't help then take out the DVD drive, open it, and look at the lens, is it dirty?

If it is, clean it and try again. If it isn't, well then you need a new drive, and I don't mean a used one from someone else's xbox, I mean a new one

Re:Dirty 'disk' XBOX - 2007/01/20 08:25 Let me guess... it is a "thompson" drive... they are notorious for the "dirty disk error". Is that the only game that has the error? If so, you can try boosting the output of the read laser(provided you are comfortable with opening electronics and using a multimeter and screwdriver).

that is the link for repair tutorials on the xbox drive.
currently, llamma is also selling the xbox "samsung" drive(one of the best) for $59.00... this is amazing considering they usually sell them for 129.
