laser trip sensor - 2007/04/20 06:44 Recently, I had a school project, and I decided I wanted to encorporate a laser trip trigger... However, we were allowed to use nothing above a transistor. So, using a few common parts, and a laser pointer, I managed to make a laser trip system which can be used on its own(with a buzzer or something), or to trigger something else, like a motor, or solenoid. I would like to know if I should do a writeup and nice schematics of the circuit. If anyone is interested, I will get to work on it. (btw, if you were making it FROM SCRATCH, you would only have ~$6 USD in it).

Re:laser trip sensor - 2007/04/22 06:36 I'd like to see something like this. I would love to set up a grid around my yard.

Re:laser trip sensor - 2007/04/22 08:02 alright, since there is at least 2 people that want it... i'll do the write up on it after i build it tomorrow...
BTW, it would take quite a bit of wire to hook up a grid around your yard... not to mention the nasty bit of "alignment" >.<

lol... I think I will set it up as a "general" system, leaving the implementation up to the builder...

Maybe I will even make a couple of different scenarios ^_^

Re:laser trip sensor - 2007/04/22 08:44 Cool! I do know that there are places you can get surplus trip wire, to bury or whatever, but you would think this would be mroe effective...could you use an infrared diode instead of something that uses visible light? http://www.mattparnell.com

Re:laser trip sensor - 2007/04/22 19:59 Infared would be better. really im more intersted in the concept. Going as far as my yard is a dream. mostly because of recent vandals.
