Re:playstation 2 usb ports - 2007/10/30 12:08 I don't know about the stuff you said, but if you plug an iPod into a PS2 then it starts to charge but it wont connect. Good news is that you can use them for powering usb devices like heaters/coolers/toys etc but sadly I think you'll have to do some firmware hacking to get the PS2 to actually send and receive data to USB devices that aren't authenticated. Maybe if you could figure out how Sony makes the PS2 recognise devices you could backwards engineer it to work with other items, but even then I'm not sure if anything could be done without editing the PS2 firmware (unless the ability to use the device is already there but not in use).

I've actually thought about doing this before but I never really got anywhere, I was happy with it charging my iPod and I was too lazy to do much research on the topic
