WiFi Predator - 2008/04/16 06:57 I thought i'd start a discussion about it, partly because i have a question..
How does it repeat and rebroadcast the signal it gets through the giant Yagi antenna? i don't see a second antenna, and putting it back through the Yagi would be all kinds of pointless and dumb.

Re:WiFi Predator - 2008/04/17 00:50 Generally speaking, your wifi AP only uses 1 antenna at a time (which ever antenna has the best signal) This setup would work with a AP that has multiple antennas as well.

But I do see what you are saying -- although I am not aware of the ability to state that you want to use one antenna for scanning, and the other for rebroadcasting. (you can specify send/receive)

Re:WiFi Predator - 2008/04/17 03:04 I seem to remember DDWRT having some per antenna abilities... been awhile since I've used it, I'm a tomato man myself CodedChaos.com

Re:WiFi Predator - 2008/04/17 04:00 so hevnsnt, does that AP have a built in antenna or something? cause if it only has the yagi it will just send the encrypted signal back at the source.
it would have to have a second antenna to do the job properly. unless you happen to be in the right spot in the radiation pattern of that big yagi, cause some will spill off the sides..
i understand it will use whichever antanna has the best signal, and in booster mose that will work ok.
the thing is, i only see the yagi.

Re:WiFi Predator - 2008/04/17 04:27 Pretty sure it's only got one. However, it might have a second antenna connection on the circuit board like the FON routers. CodedChaos.com
