Re:Argh... - 2008/07/03 02:06 LMAO... regular maintenence ^_^ I really don't understand all of the problems people have with windows. I have had my desktop for ~6-7 years... and I have had to wipe it 1 time. My laptop, 4 years... wiped it once... but that was because I was fooling around with stuff I shouldn't have been... and needed to repartition to toss on linux.

Well, I'm not sure why the audio is how it is... it may be a driver... it is a standard conexant chipset. I just know that the sound coming from windows is MUCH clearer. It's almost as if the sound on linux is "compressed" and full of noise.

Re:Argh... - 2008/07/03 02:23 you're not doing something stupid like playing .wma files on linux are you? it might be a codec thing.

as to the reformatting, i do lots of random stuff with my comp and it gets gunked up every year or so, and i reformat

Re:Argh... - 2008/07/03 23:35 nope... straight mp3 library. I have maybe 10-12 wma files. Not just sound from the media player is weird... anything that comes across the speakers sounds that way.

as for the random stuff on computer... I really cant think of anyone that could do anymore random stuff than me... I have at least half a dozen unfinished projects on here... not to mention my normal downloads and stuff.

Re:Argh... - 2008/07/08 08:30 I agree, while linux may have a bit steeper learning curve when you're used to Windows it is well worth it. I'm with you Gregg, I rebuild all 3 of my Windows PCs about once a year too. I keep them virus free, defragmented and generally don't do anything too threatening to the OS and yet the longer it is installed performance degrades. Re:Argh... - 2008/07/09 08:14 If anyone's interested I'm writing a bash script that helps you build the zen kernel in ubuntu. http://www.mattparnell.com
