Wifi Predator - 2009/02/11 07:40 Hey guys... long time, no see. I'm in the process of building my own predator. I've got the router already and the setup seems to be working fine with the DD-WRT. The only difference that I have, is that I am mounting everything in my car for when I go storm chasing. (I'll be mounting the antenna on top of the car and have a way to move it 360 degrees.) As such, my goal is to be able to pull off the interstate quick, point my antenna at a nearby town, and hopefully pull in a few radar scans.

Anyway, I've got a few questions.

A.) For those that have built the device, roughly what's the furthest distance you've gotten out of it?

B.) Would an amplifier between the router and antenna do me any good such as this?

C.) Would there be a better antenna for my application, than what's in the article?

(I realize I could buy a mobile broadband plan, but that's just way out of my budget for the time being.)

Thanks
