Too quick to lock? - 2006/05/04 06:15
Wow, you guys were sure quick to lock the 'Passwords' post over in requests for hacks. It was just over 3 hours from post to lock. The poster, ilikethemoon247, has 40 posts on the site so s/he doesn't seem to be doing a drive by posting. I am really interested in what his/her response would have been to your statement about this not being a cracking site.
There are very legit reasons for needing to do password recovery and any sysadmin worth his pay will have a set of tools for doing just that. I *frequently* have to recover user's website passwords when I move them to a new computer. They *never* see the last page when registering with a website that tells them to write down their password.
Hell, not only do I have password tools but I also use network sniffers, port scanners and other tools like back orifice and metasploit in order to test and manage my network. Funny how all the best tools for doing my job are created by developers who are labeled as criminals. Does that make me a criminal?
