The guys over http://www.dslinux.com are looking for a few good hackers to help port linux to the Nintendo DS system.  This is a small yet quite capable device, which could put all PDA's to shame.

The system will have two processors, an ARM-9 CPU running at 67Mhz and a ARM-7 unit running at 33Mhz.  Retail DS devices will have 4Mb of main RAM, with additional chunks of cache and shared RAM for the processors and 656kb of video RAM.  This unit also comes with WiFi on board, along with two separate 3-inch TFT LCD displays at a resolution of 256x192.  The lowermost display of the DS will be a touch screen, utilizing a stylus or the user's fingers.  It also allegedly will have a 3D engine capable of drawing 120,000 polygons per second, implying a fill-rate of 30 million pixels per second.  It is the first portable console from Nintendo (not including the Virtual Boy) to incorporate stereo speakers.  Did I mention that it will have 10 hours of battery life!?

At a initial price of $149.99 this has strong potential as a cool little device.  Dslinux.com has put up a bounty for hacking the Nintendo DS.  $1000 to the first person who gets this device running linux, yup you heard that correctly.

I can tell you that I will be after the bounty, I hope that you will as well.
