 | Ok, if you are reading this site, and you happen to have an xbox... Chances are that your xbox isn't exactly "factory". More than likely it is modded. Well Microsoft doesn't like the fact that you modded it, and have begun taking a lot of steps to figure out which xboxs are modded, and then ban them from Xbox live. So lets HACK XBOX LIVE. |
{mos_sb_discuss:18} Ok, Ok.. Before I get tons of email about this, let me put it in the first paragraph. We are not going to be hacking Xbox live (sorry the title was just so catchy...) We are going to be exploring other FREEWARE applications that emulate xbox live functionality. In my opinion these options are more appealing any way and here is a list of why I think so.
- 1. These options are free. I can play online with my friends and others around the world, without paying for an XBL (Xbox Live) subscription.
- 2. I dont have to worry about being banned because I am using a modded xbox.
- 3. My xbox is modded. I like it that way. Apparently a lot of other people do as well. What is so cool about the hacker mind.. Don't want my xbox on your XBL? Fine, I will make my own XBL. =)
In this article we are going to be discussing Xlink KAI. Using this application and some really cool hacks, we will be able to emulate XBL and play our favorite games against players all around the world.
In order to utilize Xlink KAI we have to have a client running on a network device (more on that later) running the KAI client, and our xbox connected to the same subnet as said network device. Now, the brilliant minds over there have created a couple ways for us to do it. We can download a client for a computer on the network (Windows, Linux, & Mac supported) or we can download a modded firmware for our Linksys WRT54G (god I love that router) I am going to discuss both methods in this article.
::Configuring the Xlink Kai Client
After you have downloaded and installed the Xlink Kai client for whatever platform you will be using, you will need to create an account with Xlink to access their servers. I suggest if you plan on doing this any time in the future you register now, so you can hopefully get the nickname that you want. Should you have a Linksys WRT54G (or GS) you can download this hacked firmware which will act as the Xlink Kai client. We will be focusing on the setup as follows:
- Windows Computer running the client
- Modded Xbox running latest Xbox Media Center & Games running from HDD
To configure the PC Side of things, I suggest you run through the Xlink Kai Quickstart guide
Ok, once you have your PC configured correctly, you will want to go to your xbox, and start up XBMC. Xlink KAI and XBMC (and Avalaunch) work together and make it absolutely simple to play online. In XBMC, go to "My Programs" then "Xlink Kai" Choose Arenas, then the game you want. Then Select play! (Pretty tough huh) Once inside the game, instead of going to the "Xbox Live" part of the game, we are going to use the "System Link". In Very simplistic terms, Xlink Kai creates a tunnel from your xbox to their servers, so your xbox thinks that it is connected to other xboxes around the world.
I hope you have enjoyed this article, and if you happen to see me on Xlink Kai (nick hevnsnt) shoot me a pm!

Ok, I couldn't resist this.. This is an absolutely brilliant solution. If you happen to have a Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS, you can download a hacked firmware, that not only keeps the router functional, but also acts as the computer client. That way it is always on, and always ready to play.. :) If you have an WRT54G/S then you really should use this solution!
