{mos_sb_discuss:18} Hacking The Websurfer

The
websurfer hit the market soon after the I-Opener craze, and Codeman
from http://www.linux-hacker.net was at it again. This little beast
included:
- Cyrix 180Mhz Cpu
- Cyrix MediaGX Chip Set
- 16MB DIMM Ram w/one open slot
- 16MB M-Systems 2000 DiskOnChip, cool linux support !!! (And it's Socketed)
- Real 56k ISA Modem (not soft modem)
- I/R keyboard w/mouse (better than on the io)
- One expansion slot shared isa/pci, may be able to use both at same time.
- CyberPro 2010 Video Controller w/1mb Ram
- 2 USB Ports / 1 Printer Port / Video Out TV/VGA/S-Video / Stereo Audio Out RCA
- PS2 keyboard and mouse connectors (tabs must be removed from case to utilize these)
- Solder pads on motherboard for INTERNAL ide header (it works!)
- Solder pads for a 10/100 ethernet chipset and a RJ45 connector, needs good surface mount soldering skills.
- Award Bios (you can change the boot logo)
So as you can see it was a must to hack it. =)
Your best bet for finding information on this hack is in the linux hacker forums. (Until we compile the data)
